My name is Carolyn Yu and I am the head instructor for the IGSM English Class called "Effective Communication for Success" starting Sunday, Aug 15th.
This is a 6-week English class designed to help international graduate students, postdocs & visiting scholars improve communication skills needed for graduate level research, coursework and presentations. English Pronunciation, Intonation, Discussion & Presentation Skills and Conversation will be the primary focus of the class.
"Effective Communication for Success" has been a popular class for the past 6 years with an enrollment of about 60-80 students and 10-12 English teachers each year. Each student will have many opportunities to practice speaking English and receive helpful feedback & tips to improve their skills in a small group setting.
This class is sponsored by IGSM (International Graduate Student Ministry, www.igsmonline.org), a UC Berkeley campus graduate student group.
